A weekly Avatar: The Last Airbender rewatch podcast with Kelly and Colton

Kelly
It was Thanksgiving in a guest room filled with hat boxes and a defunct pinball machine that 13 year old Kelly discovered Avatar: The Last Airbender. She had found a series that she felt was the quintessential way to tell a story from start to finish. It was the first children’s program that treated her as a smart and nuanced thinker. With streaming not a “thing” yet, ATLA was always an automatic yes if it was on. Her first official rewatch occurred freshman year of college where she became friends with a funny fast talking guy who understood almost all of her pop culture references except one major source...Avatar: The Last Airbender. Nine years later, the fast talking friend, Colton, finally listened to her and realized that her advice is usually always right.
Colton
It only took a pandemic for Colton to finally sit down and watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, for the very first time. His friend of 9 years had been pitching the idea of watching the show since they met. Why in all her pitches had she never mentioned that Dave Filoni, director of his favorites, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, had worked on this show? He created a group chat for his initial watch through feelings. As he and Kelly debated and challenged each other on various characters and themes, Colton felt certain he needed to rewatch this show as soon as possible. And what better way than to do so with someone who felt so connected to the story? He put his technical prowess to use and together, they embarked on their rewatch podcast journey.
